It’s been over 5 months since all the production facilities were able to deliver a full service in our physical spaces. As we gradually move back into our buildings and make them safe and accessible to artists and our communities we wanted to share what we’ve been up to for the past few months.
Behind the scenes we have been planning how we can begin to welcome artists back into our studio spaces, our communal workshop facilities and our galleries. We exist to provide access to artists and our communities and as lockdown eases, ensure there is a viable future for artist production facilities in Scotland.
We have been advising on government guidelines for studio access. Where possible, we have utilised any grants or schemes available to our organisations to safeguard jobs, and honour contracts. We have been lobbying for support for freelance artists and for the wider sector. Alongside this we have delivered on-line and in-real-life learning opportunities through the delivery of creativity packs and digital workshops or talks.
Now as the 11 organisations begin to re-open and welcome you back we want to share what you might expect from Scotland’s Workshops in the next few months as we begin to reopen our workshops.
Each organisation will have a covid risk assessment in place to ensure the safety of staff and users at their facility.
- Additional cleaning will be implemented; physical distancing and mandatory mask wearing can be expected.
- Sessions will need to be pre-booked and there may be restrictions on the number of slots available or the lengths of time available, so that those slots can be shared out among all who want to access them. Initially sessions may only be accessed by existing users.
- Public classes and workshops will gradually return. You can read up to date, detailed information from each individual organisation on their websites and a summary of opening dates for facilities access is below.
Different venues will open at different times and have different capacities. Keep an eye out here and on individual websites for full information.
